Around mid-morning today, the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an alleged threat at Springfield High School that came from a call made to the FBI office in Knoxville, TN.

As a result, the school was placed on a precautionary hard lockdown while law enforcement personnel responded. The initial alleged threat was from the outside and at no time was there any danger or threat inside the school.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, “After further investigation, the phone number appears to be a fake number, and this does not appear to be a credible threat at this time. We will continue to have an increased presence of law enforcement at the school while we continue to investigate.”

The building and the parking lot were cleared, and the school remained on a soft lockdown for the rest of the day.

Robertson County Schools is grateful for the prompt responses from the Sheriff’s Office and Springfield Police Department. The close working relationship that the school system enjoys with each is reassuring in the district’s daily ongoing focus to provide a safe environment for students and staff.
